My So-Called TV Life

Gossip Girl returns tonight! I'm quite excited about seeing it tomorrow. I think Gossip Girl is my guilty pleasure show because though I know there are plenty of things wrong with it and sometimes it makes no sense at all, I still enjoy watching it. Unlike Entourage, which I recently retired from my list of shows I watch because I just wasn't enjoying it anymore.

As a side note, I've started watching Greek again. Does anybody else watch it? I really like it but unfortunately they've only released the first half on DVD here in the UK so that's all I've seen, and I've been looking around for the rest of it but it's hard to find! Such a shame.

I've also been on the lookout for interesting new shows, and so far I've watched the pilots of Hellcats and Nikita. Here are my thoughts:

I was disappointed by Hellcats and I don't think I'm going to continue watching. I do like Ashley Tisdale and I thought she was pretty good, but what let the show down IMO was Alyson Michalka and her awful acting. Also, some of the dialogue was very clunky and I wasn’t all that captivated by the story. This show is obviously trying to be Bring It On but it’s nowhere near as witty and Alyson Michalka is no Eliza Dushku.

I'm glad Nikita wasn't as disappointing as Hellcats was! It helps that I've liked Maggie Q since Mission: Impossible 3, but they've given her a very good supporting cast and I'm intrigued to know more about the rest of the characters. I really like Lyndsy Fonseca as Alex and Melinda Clarke as Amanda, plus I'd love to know more about Michael's (Shane West) past relationship with Nikita. The plot does remind me a bit of Alias but in a good way, and though the pilot isn't as good as Alias's was, I think it leaves room for the show to improve. I'm looking forward to the next episode!

And to finish off, I thought I'd do this meme which I got from semplygroovy, who I believe got it from dizzyknee. It seems to fit the theme of this post!

Name a TV show series in which you have seen every episode at least twice: Friends.

Name a show you can’t miss: I don't like missing any of my shows but I guess Glee.

Name an actor that would make you more inclined to watch a show: Rob Lowe.

Name an actor who would make you less likely to watch a show:
David Boreanaz.

Name a show you can, and do, quote from: Friends! All the time.

Name a show you like that no one else enjoys: Umm, I'm not sure on this one. For all the shows I like I've always met at least one person who likes them too.

Name a TV show which you’ve been known to sing the theme song: I sing lots of theme songs! True Blood, The Big Bang Theory, Friends, Ally McBeal, Pretty Little Liars. I also have the Friday Night Lights theme as my ringtone.

Name a show you would recommend everyone to watch: Friday Night Lights. Please watch it, it's awesome.

Name a TV series you own: I own lots of TV shows, but I'll say Alias since it was the first TV show I bought on DVD.

What is your favourite episode of your favourite series?: 1x19 "Let Bartlet Be Bartlet" - The West Wing

Name a show you keep meaning to watch, but you just haven’t gotten around to yet: Grey's Anatomy.

Ever quit watching a show because it was so bad?: Yes. I recently stopped watching Entourage.

Name a show you aren't interested in watching, not in the least: Bones.

Name a show that’s made you cry multiple times: The West Wing.

Oldest TV show you like? Friends, I think.

Newest TV show you like? Nikita.

What do you eat when you watch TV? I like watching TV while eating breakfast when I can, so usually cereal and a bagel with cream cheese :)

How often do you watch TV? I watch TV every day on the computer and on DVD, but hardly ever actually go down to the living room and watch TV. My problem is that I seem to prefer American shows to British ones.

Do you have a favorite talk show? The Late Show with David Letterman, but they don't seem to air it over here :(

What’s the last TV show you watched? Nurse Jackie. I'm giving it a go, still a little unsure about it.

What’s your favourite/preferred genre of TV? Scripted dramas and comedies.

What's your least favourite genre of TV? Reality.

What was the first TV show you were obsessed with? I think it was probably either Friends or Alias.

What TV show do you wish you never watched? I think I've made pretty good choices with my TV shows since I don't regret any of them...I guess the closest I can get to this is Brothers and Sisters. I love Seasons 1 and 2 with all my heart and it was thanks to B&S that I started watching The West Wing, so I don't regret it, but part of me wishes I'd never watched Season 3.

What’s the weirdest show you enjoyed? I think Friday Night Lights is a pretty weird show for me to enjoy since it's about football in Texas, two things I am almost completely unfamiliar with.

What TV show scared you the most? I don't think I've ever been scared by a TV show.

What is the funniest TV show you have ever watched? Friends has made me laugh more than any other show.

I gave up on Gossip Girl somewhere last season. I still watch Blair/Chuck scenes though. Other than that,I found all characters totally stupid and unbearable at some point :/

Maggie Q was in Mission Impossible 3? I don't remember o_O
Aww, that's a shame. Blair is definitely my favourite thing about the show but I don't hate all of the characters and I still like watching it even if sometimes it frustrates me.

Yep, she was! I don't really like Tom Cruise so I think when I was watching it I was paying extra attention to everyone else, lol. She and Jonathan Rhys Meyers were my two favourite things in the movie.
Everytime I stop watching Gossip Girl, I get sucked right back in. Its like crack, I can't give it up no matter how I try. I'm so excited for tonight!
I know what you mean! It has that quality about it. I'm going to watch it very soon, can't wait either.
